Sneak peek new project

Ik had zin om iets nieuws te maken. Maar ik maak mijn projecten graag met iemand in gedachte. Daarom nam ik één van mijn zwangere vriendinnen in gedachte. Ik viste bij haar wat naar de toekomstige babykamer. Ze stuurde me daarop de kleurenwaaiers die ze daarvoor ging gebruiken. Een combinatie van turquoise en roze accenten had ze daarvoor in gedachte. Pinterest bood raad. Ik vond er hele leuke kleurencombinaties. Uiteindelijk kwam ik bij een kleurencombinatie van haar uit. Ik toog naar de lokale wolwinkel en vond daar in het assortiment Stylecraft de kleurtjes. Ik moet zeggen dat ik er zelf niet zo snel op was gekomen maar ik vind het een hele frisse combinatie geworden. Het blijft voor jullie alleen nog even een verassing, ik wil niet dat ze al ziet wat het geworden is…. Dus hieronder alleen een sneakpeek van de eerste toeren.

I wanted to start a new project. But I like to make my projects for someone. That's why I chose one of my pregnant girlfriends as subject. I asked her about the future nursery. In reaction she send me the colour wheels she would be using for that. A combination of pink and turquoise accents it will be. Pinterest showed me some prette cool colour combinations. I finally found a coulour recipe from her. With that in mind I went to my local yarn store and found some a great combo from Stylecraft. I have to admit that the colour combination didn't appeal to me at first but I think it is refreshing. For you it will stay a surprise though. because I don't want to spoil the surprise... So I'll only give you a sneak peek of the first rows.

New yarn, new project

Ik vertelde eerder al over de babyboom die gaande is in mijn omgeving. Ik ga iets maken voor een babytje dat eind mei verwacht wordt. Ik mocht over een nieuw project nadenken omdat mijn unicat shawl af is. Ik begrijp dat het beter is om voor pasgeboren babytjes met natuurlijke materialen te werken zodat ze hun warmte kwijt kunnen. Omdat het dan al bijna zomer is dacht ik aan katoen. Ik deed wat onderzoek en ik bestelde een voor mij nieuw garen Rico creative cotton Aran (linkje).

Het is nog een verassing en dat moet het blijven. Dus hier alleen een foto van de garen-snoepjes.

I told about the babyboom going on around me before. I will make something for a new baby that is expected at the end of may. I allowed myself to think about a new project because my unicat shawl is finished. I researched a bit and learned that for newborns you should use natural materials. Because this will be is for an almost summer baby I thought about cotton. I did some research and ordered a new (to me) yarn; Rico creative cotton Aran (link).

It’s still a surprise and should stay that way. So I will only share a picture off this yarn-candy.

Reveal of the surprise project

Ik blogde al over deze WIP in november. Ik liet in die post de materialen zien die ik had verzameld.  Die was ik van plan om te vermaken tot een superhelden outfit. Met een keerbare cape voor zowel een Batman als Superman, bijpassende maskers en een riem. Een super gaaf cadeau voor mijn neefjes verjaardag in januari. Die is nu geweest dus ik kan eindelijk laten zien wat ik gemaakt heb.

I blogged about my WIP project here. In that post I showed you some of the materials I had collected. It was going to be made into a super hero outfit. With a reversible cape for both batman and superman, matching masks and a belt. A super cool gift for my nephew's birthday in january.

WIP wednesday

I thought I do a Work In Progress (WIP) wednesday were I show you what I am working on. I will try to follow up with finished projects.

I dacht ik doe eens een Work In Progress (WIP) woensdag waarbij ik laat zien waar ik mee bezig ben. Ik zal proberen deze posts op te volgen met projecten die afgerond zijn.

For my 3 year old nephew (or cousin, i'm always confused by this in English. In Dutch we have only one word) I started on a birthday or christmas present (time of giving depends on finishing the project). It will be something for his dress up set. I don't want to share too much here to keep it a surprise. What I can do is showing the colors and materials here. With some guessing you will probably figure it out though (click here and here for the result).

Voor mijn neefje van bijna 3 ben ik begonnen aan een kerst/verjaardagskado (moment van geven is afhankelijk wanneer het af is). Het wordt iets voor zijn verkleedkist. Veel meer wil ik hier nog niet prijsgeven omdat het een verassing moet blijven (ook voor zijn moeder). Ik kan wel de kleuren en materialen laten zien. Met wat raden ben je er dan snel genoeg achter denk ik (klik hier of hier voor het resultaat).

It is felt, elastic, velcro and lining fabric. The felt I bought at the KreaDoe a couple of weeks ago. For the other items I shopped at two different fabric shops. I'm building a stash of fabric already :) I'm still looking for ways to organise my fabrics and sewing supplies. How do you organise your stash?

Het is vilt, elastiek, klitteband en voeringsstof. Het vilt heb ik op de KreaDoe gekocht een paar weken geleden. De andere items vond ik in twee verschillende stoffenwinkels. Ik ben al een aardige vooraad stof en benodigdheden aan het opbouwen :) Ik ben nog wel wat zoekende hoe ik dat netjes kan opruimen. Hoe organiseer jij je stoffenvoorraad en fournituren?

Preview - new project

Ik wilde een project voor de verjaardag van m'n zusje maken. Ik heb haar gevraagd naar haar ideeën want ik wilde wel dat ze er blij mee zou zijn. Het moest vooral niet te druk worden zoals een aantal voorbeelden die ik stuurde. En de hoofdkleur moest geel worden voor op de donkergrijze bank. Ik keek eens in m'n voorraad en kwam daar nog twee tinten grijs tegen. In de wol winkel legde ik wat bij elkaar en kwam op onderstaand stapeltje uit.

I wanted to make something for my sisters birthday. I asked her about her preferences because I wanted to make something she would use and be happy with. She told me not to make something too colourful like some of the examples I send her. The main colour should be yellow for the darkgrey couch. I took a look at my stash and found two nuances of grey. In the shop I found some other colours and came home with the following stack.

  

Thuis gekomen heb ik een ripple patroontje uitgezocht en ben gestart.

Back home I searched online for a ripple pattern and started.
